🌿 Life of Contentment 🌿
Introduction
In every person's life, there are moments when God tests them, between joy and sorrow, gain and loss. Sometimes we think that sustenance comes from people or that it is taken away by their actions, but believing hearts know that everything that reaches them is by the decree of the Mighty Merciful.
The Story
There was a poor young man, but he was rich in spirit and contentment, living responsibly for his elderly mother and his young wife. He worked as a servant for a merchant, performing his duties with unwavering dedication, treating every task as a trust placed in his hands.
One day, he missed work for the first time. The merchant thought: "Perhaps he is absent in hopes of a raise, I will give him an extra dinar so he won't go to someone else."
The next day, the young man returned, and the merchant gave him his salary along with a bonus dinar. The young man took the money in silence, without question or comment.
Days passed, and he missed work again. This time the merchant was angry and said: "I will deduct the dinar I added for him!" And he did so, but he noticed that the young man accepted the money silently, just as he had before.
The merchant could not help but ask him in amazement: – I raised your salary and you didn't speak, I deducted it and you didn't speak, why?
The young man smiled a calm smile and said: – The first time I was absent, God blessed me with a newborn, and that was the reason for my absence. When you gave me the raise, I thought to myself: this is a blessing that came with my newborn. As for the second time, my mother passed away, may God have mercy on her, and that was the reason for my absence. When you deducted the dinar, I thought: this is her sustenance that has gone with her.
